Yam Cake Yummers!!

Last night was a wonderful night as I went to David Copperfield magic show!! Its soo UNREAL!! YAY!! This morning I decided to make yam cake! Had to go all the way to Richmond to get yam but it was on the way as I went to get gumboot and my coverall for stupid proteins class!!

So this is my pretty yam cake!! Woo hoo. It is made me me ok and its edible!

People think studying food technology is about cooking. PEOPLE OUT THERE!! It is not! Cooking is just my interest! Studying food technology does not teach you how to cook. They teach us about food safety, food processing and how food are done in the commercial way! LOL... If Food technology is teaching people how to cook I rather go take a chef course or watever. As there is so much readings and assignments and reports to do. I have 3 tests this coming week and 4 assignments due *sob sob* back to work now :D

Haven't been in blogging mood for a very long time. Was so busy with school work and exams then HOLIDAY!!! Now back in Melbourne and back to school. This semester I'm taking Food Technology Stream which my course has this split stream into Food Tech or Nutrition. Food Tech Stream subjects are Food Chemistry, Food Microbiology and either confectionary or grains technology and of course I took Confectionary! I had my 1st practical for confectionary. It was really fun. My group had to do Hard Candies which we made butterscotch and acid drops which was easy and fun. My friends did nougat and marshmallows which were more complicated but yummy!! I keep stealing their product to eat!! HAHA....

Today I had a fren telling me some frens hate me because I complain too much! haha... Pretty emo.. coz I really treat them like really nice. But I do complain that they always make me wait and are always late when we're meeting up! Sometimes I do think people take other people for granted. Life is not fair :( Like my mum told me before, just because you treat people nice and you do stuff for them but sometimes people just don't appreciate it and yet they take you for granted! AIHHH..... Hope I'm not someone like that when I'm complaining LOL....

1st week of Uni and Moomba fireworks

1st week of Uni is over Thank God this is a long weekend. It was only 1st week of Uni and I already have 2 assignments =(. I had lab orientation with the labs for Food tech is damn strict. Remember I said I bought 5 colours of OPI. OMG I cant use them anymore! There is a rule saying no jewelries allowed and no nail polish! OMG OMG OMG... =( the lab technitions are meanies. Well... we don't get to dress up to labs or there is no use dressing up either because we have to wear lab glasses, lab coats, freaking hairnets, best long pants and closed toes shoes. How pretty can we look =(

Yesterday (saturday) I wentback to ballet finally.. My toes hurt freaking ALOT!! it was a 2 n half hours class.. went there with Janine.. really can't stand 1 hour on pointe =( haven't been doing pointe for a year already! I have to stregthen my ankles real soon!!

After ballet went to have dinner with zhongyong and went for Moomba fireworks!! They are really pretty! Took some videos of it!

Tomorrow's the first day of uni! Its time to get back to work after 3 and a half months of holidays. Hopefully everything works out fine!
Just found out a web that sells really cheap OPI nail polish https://transdesign.com/
They sell 1 OPI for 4.95USD but the shipping fees are quite expensive so just double up the price of an OPI Still 10 USD for an OPI is worth it! OPI sold in david jones are like 25AUD. Just bought 5 new colours and a top coat and base coat from the web! Can't wait till it arrives!! Happy Nail Polishing!! LOL

42 days till Mr. Loh comes for a visit!! My 2nd sister and fren is coming from 15th to 18th as well OMG... have to intro them to each other!! imagine 4 ppl crammed in my small apartment with only 1 toilet!! but I have priority to my toilet coz I have school!! Have been so bored for 2 weeks doing my enrolment and going for orientation. Happy being an official Uni student!! Doing my 2nd year degree in Food Tech n Nutrition!! I have 22 contact hours a week =( even zhong yong studying engineering has less hours than me!! NOT FAIR!@#!#!@$#!@$# At least I have Wednesdays off so I can go for ballet classes. Guess I will not be taking my ballet Advanced 1 exam this year as i can only go for 1 or 2 classes =( sometimes I do think of giving up doing exams and just dance for fun aih.... Can't wait to start uni and Looking forward to easter holidays^^ LOL...

Its been 10 days after New year! And juz to wish dad happy birthday!! Since new year I've been not doing much. JL came for 4 days and I'm now in Singapore visiting my 2 annoying sisters! Yesterday was having a shopping spree!! Mum bought me a Red Long Champ school bag coz i've been complaining I have to big bags to put in files plus ballet stuff when i have ballet and she also bought me a Gucci sling bag!! ^^ Love u mum!! haha...

ok.. supposingly it should be recession for this year and we should be saving money and not spending but i'm sorry dad and mum. I've been buying alot of crap lately! Dad bought me a new pink Vaio laptop!! Love u dad as well!! hehe... Another pink stuff added to my pink collection ^^. Anyway I will be back in Penang on Tuesday!

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and hope everyone will have a good start! Well I did so hopefully everyone's having a good time! It was all last minute plans yesterday but still it was fun!! Zhongyong already had a good start by having a new hair cut =p. So yesterday we all had dinner with parents at home! Then went out at 8.30pm! Han Shi was the driver! no plans so we were screaming in the car and making decisions wheather to go clubbing or join ing hsien at batu feringghi. So we ended up going to Belissa Row and went to Bed for a martini each. Then Yong has this craving for ice cream and Han Shi voted for Haagen and Yong for Baskin (31% off). In the end we juz settle for Haagen!

Then we got a call from Ing Hsien saying they are going to Upper Penang Road so we went as well!! Wanted to go Mois but so crowded so we went Fame instead!! Clubbing in Penang doesn't beat the ones in Melbourne but its all about the accompany rite??? My "Date" was 2 "good looking" boys so what was there to complain LOL

OOO... N guess what!! I met my primary school fren who bullied me like hell when we were in standard 1 to 3! He hung out with Ing Hsien i guess. And he tried to introduce himself to me and he told me i'm Siao Wei and i was shocked that how could he know my name without me telling him!! I'm glad to see you again!! In conclusion, It was a fun night!!Ohh and we had a party on last monday and juz wanna tell you guys it was a great night! Thanks for everyone's food! Glad that we're meeting each other again!! Seeing everyone growing mature and prettier and more good looking since primary school!

For my 2009 resolution: I wish to Grow Taller, loose weight, studer harder, have fun more, not to "give aeroplane" so much to my frens, score in exams, Finish my ballet Advance 1 and get a distinction, be rich and stay rich, listen to my parents and love them, love my frens more, treat everyone better, and be a better gf!!

Thats not much to ask hehe... I promise i'll be a better companion, fren, daughter, gf, sister and what-so-ever relation haha...

On New Year's Day i am determine to go on a fasting diet! Juz liquids for 4 days! Its a detox diet thing! I can only drink like juices and tea =( so I'll be slimmer prettier !! haha.. JOKER!!! I only started half a day and I'm kinda dead! coz I love food! So i better not go out so no distraction especially from the Melbourne gang!! The diet is from this organic shop near my place. So breakfast lunch and dinner is 1 cup of saurkraut plus vegetable juice and 1 cup apple + red grape juice. Then in between meals i drink 2 teaspoon of flaxmeal plus 1 cup of water! That makes 8 cups of water AND They recommend to drink dandelion or ginger tea like 3 to 4 cups a day!! and drink plenty of water!! Its like more than 12 cups of water a day!! so ppl please dun distract me k!! i'm going SG on thursday till the 13th to visit my 2 annoying sisters. So sorry guys if I cant make it out.

This post is especially for you! Just to tell u we're having such fun that we nearly forgot that we have you as a fren! Just to tell you what we did for this weekend! We went to tao to have dinner. We had so much food but i only remember to took photos in the end to "sia" u! Han Shi lahh keep eating all the food! Han Shi and Zhong Yong trying to have a competition that who can eat more sushi! In the end Han Shi won. He freaking ate like damn alot of sushi. Zhong Yong Tried to put his chopstick there to prove its yummy!!

We had ice cream as well! U know all these food and we paid for only 57! Where to get in Melbourne!!

We manage to save u some soy sauce and wasabi! Oh thats mine and Hsien ordered miso soup for u! I manage to ask him not to drink all and take a photo of it juz for u! and no white rice but i think i can cook you some.

Somemore after such a nice dinner we went to celebrate the missing of kelvin with some beer! ?Now u believe we dun miss u? After a round of Guinness there is another round of Tiger! lol... I know u miss us!! Some more someone dun get to drink in China i think! I bet u miss us more than we miss u!

The next morning we felt guilty not missing u so we went hiking at moongate to visit ur relatives coz u know we felt bad but ur relatives damn lansi lo!! Mm choy us!! U know i managed till the top lehh!! not bad k! nearly Pengsan.. so u have to know how sincere am I!! I manage to take photos of ur frens and relatives. Thats all I can say.. and we all wanna tell u take your time in China. If u wanna ask us to go anywhere with u, we're busy people! anyway i boh eng write d!! Just to wish everyone Merry Xmas and a Happy Holiday! This is the 1st year I stayed home celebrating Xmas eve after 5 years and guess what!! The whole HillSide electricity went BOOM at 7.30pm!! Mum decided to cook yesterday so we had like romatic candle light dinner! There was no electricity for FREAKING 2 hours. So after dinner I was so bored!! LOL... The electricity went on again at 9.30 pm. Wondering how people can survive without electricity. No electricity= No TV= No Computer/ Laptop= No Air Con=No Lights= No Fun= Very Hot= Very Dark= Bored= Alot of mosquitoes. Hope everyone's enjoying Xmas!!

Basically I have not been updating because i've been enjoying my holidays too much and not being bothered to update my blog! ok... I've been to Phuket for a week after the KL trip. Then been hanging out with the melbourne "retards" gang. oohhh... n i've been playing pool!! And Kelvin went back to his homeland (China) * i dun miss u* (if ur reading) hahaha... hsien worked in Dubai for a month and coming back tmr! * Welcome back Manager!!! so at least we have plans.*

Seriously I kinda miss Melbourne. Been staying home quite alot these days. My parents have been nagging quite alot =( mum's like saying i stay in my room most of the time! but what else can I do. And if i go out too much i get scolded again! *Frustrated* That was basically what i've been doing for the past 3 and a half weeks!

Talk about Yesterday I had glutinous rice balls which means if u eat it your officially 1 year older =) that includes me =(

I met up with Pey Yee and Nana!! Now that i can drive I have to be the driver all the time! they treat me as a driver! always SIAO WEI FETCH @#$!~!@#!@#$!@#$ that goes to the melb gang as well!! yesterday i have to fetch nana (which was alrite coz it was on the way) then have to PIA ALL THE WAY TO SUNGAI ARA just to fetch Pey yee!!! FYI i live in tanjung bunga! and u know wat Pey yee doesn't know the way home! she had to ask mum to confirm directions and mum tells her and she tells nana and nana tells me. which made me and nana so frustrated!! but we still manage to go to her place to fetch her to get to QB

This wasn't the interesting part. When we were going home she ask me to take this route home and when we reach the main road she did not know her way and she even turn around n asked where are we!! After driving around 15 min we end up back at the other side of QB and guess what she said!! “你早早就应该带我来这里嘛！我会从这里回！” meaning i should take her to this direction earlier and she knows the way home from there! Ms. Ooi Pey Yee!!! your the one who ask me to take that route lo!! Fetching her home made me aged like 5 years!!

Anyway I'd enjoyed the time spending together talking about high school memories which we missed so much. spending time in school everyday! all those silliness, gossipping and kap siao-ing! Loving u guys and do miss u guys =(.

Start to Drive ALONE!!

To those people who don't know me well, i've never really drove a car after a get my P's! I just started to drive last winter holidays in June! I know I'm lame.. I think I only drove less than 10 times! hehe... and guess what Yesterday and today i drove myself to ballet!! I'm so proud of myself!! haha... Tomorrow i'm going to kl for 10 days then coming pg then going to phuket the next day so wont be posting much i guess.. Toodloo... ADIOS!! Happy holidays everyone!! I'll be enjoying lovely beaches and SHOPPING!!!! Those who are having exams, too bad; so sad!! I'll enjoy the entire holiday for you!

Muffin Day!!!

Today I had like baking mood so mum asked me to bake MUFFINS!! I started with the 1st batch then it was a failure!! LOL... everything went fine until the part where the microwave has complicated settings!! So mum you shouldn't blame me for wasting your ingredients!! I did preheat the microwave to 180 degrees then i think i pressed wrongly and i actually microwave the muffins instead of baking them!! They turn out hard and GOSH they smelled SOOO badly!! Hehe.. Then i did another batch and this time I did put it in correct settings and the muffins are Mag-ni-fi-cent!! TAH DAH!! my gorgeous orange poppyseed muffins with raisins (mum must have raisins in everything.. bleh..)

They were so good Lady also want some of it !! haha.... awww....SHOOO CUTEEE!!!!

Brighton and St Kilda Beach!

Yesterday me and my cousins went to Brighton to this place for dinner and its all you can eat for only 28aud.

So like after dinner my "sampat" sister who came over for holidays wanted to go to St Kilda beach! She was like wanting to take heaps of pictures but me and my cousins were like just ignoring her trying to walk faster and faster. You can see how sampat is she from the picture! Oh well... She will always be my sister =(

At the end of the pier, we saw these little cute fairy penguins nearby the beach. Ain't they adorable... I want one as a pet!! HAHA...

I got a call from Janise yesterday asking me out for lunch and keep insisting on coming to my house then only decide where to go eat! It came like out of the blue as Janise NEVER ask me out for lunch and only I ask her!! So the date was on. Today after taking my shower Janise called to ask for my apartment number!! Guess what... They gave me a birthday surprise and my birthday is not until the 24th =.=" *coz i'm leaving on the 9th*

But it was sooo sweet of them... Even the twins came. Love you guys!! Thanks for the Myer Gift Card and the cake. 20 more days till I turn 20 =( sobzz getting old!!

First I would like to wish this boy here Happy Birthday and hope you will feel this is the best birthday ever and even more to come in the coming years.

Ok. Well at first you make think this is a cute and wonderful birthday with cakes and friends with a lovely cookie monster piniata. But YOU ARE WRONG. Well today we started by bringing Han Shi to a steakhouse to have a lovely dinner and then we went back to their place to cut the ice cream cake and blow out candles after midnight! Well these photos are taken when everyone are still normal =)

Then we bought this adorable cookie monster piniata for HanShi which he can't wait to destroy.

Ok. Somehow we did some kind of joke by putting condoms in the piniata for him HAHA... Hopefully Han Shi you manage to use those in the following years.

The fun bits only started after this. With some ALCOHOL. We played this game and everyone got sooo drunk. Guess what we drank through the whole day. For 9 people, we finished a bottle of bacardi 151, tequila and Jägermeister. I was the only one with an excuse not to be drunk as my sister was coming the next morning and I have to go home! Well this are was drunk people look like. There are even some hilarious videos of what drunk people do. Lol....

After the game, LOUSY Zhong yong, Qi lun and David pass out and Kelvin hugging his toilet bowl all drunk. Then we continue playing truth or dare and they Dave were singing and dancing with Han Shi. These party was all night long. Everyone puking and sooo damn drunk. The birthday boy was the worse!! He pee-ed in his pants and got wasted on his bed! They were like saying their hungry so me and Jess went to get Mackers which was very funny. We ordered 6 meals when the cashier asked us do we want to have it there or take away. Which made us laugh out so badly as we're thinking "do we look as if we're that hungry?" 2 girls eating 6 meals?!?!? When we got home everyone has went to sleep.

After eating breakfast, I just went back home for my inspection at FREAKING 9am and letting my sister in when she arrives. I only slept for an hour the whole morning then we went for yum cha at 1.30pm which everyone was thinking slow and tired. Everyone just went back home to sleep including myself who fainted for 5 hours... Hopefully HanShi you enjoyed your Birthday this year and not thinking its the worse for waking up next to your steak and ice cream next to you!! EWWwww.....

Its a Beautiful, Wonderful, Fabulous, and Gorgeous Saturday ... Haha... Today we went for yum cha in the morning at 11.30am... Full of yummy food!! The weather is getting freaking hot lately!! I can wear my short, havaianas, skirt and dresses without thick jackets, coats, tights anymore!! good bye to miserable thick clothing, scarf and my colourful tights.. Hello to wonderful colourful dresses!!

Recently, everyone's busy with their assignments and exam and me left alone because everyone's ignoring me for going back so earlier. 2 weeks left!! Can't wait to go home and I wanna go KL!!! * mummy and daddy please let me go* shopping spree <3...>Less than a month to turn 20!! *insulted by david saying I look like 15* (people who not know me, I am famous with height and age issues!!)

To be announcing the date of Ms. Siao Wei Tan's arrival at Penang International Airport : 9th November 2008 Night k!! everyone has to ask me out ok... I'll be staying till March unless coming back early for a trip somewhere around Australia as plan by our "tai lou" *GRINS*. Can't wait till next year so there will be another girl (Min min) hanging out with us and i won't be the only girl in the group anymore *hyped* Loving my life more and more... can't wait till this week's over!!

Hehe... sorry for not posting anything for so long!! I was so busy with school work and assignments. Was also busy going out shopping and having fun hehe.... I went out the whole day today as my presentation was all over *phew* Just have 1 more exam next Tuesday and can't wait to go home!! BUT before going home I still have to finish up my 4 activity sheets, sensory analysis assignment and my food analysis report =(

Ok... not talking about school, guess wat I did today? I've been out shopping in Chapel street!! haha.. finding slippers FOR SOMEONE!!! I went to around 9 shops to juz find for that person's freaking size.. but thanks to that SOMEONE I bought myself another 3 pairs of Havaianas... hahahahah... Guess how many pairs of Havaianas I own now.. *not really dat much **blush** only 9* hahaha not to mention Havaianas are only slippers. Like i have loads of colours pink, blue, yellow, white, black, gold, silver. They are really comfy slippers kay?!?!

I don't know how much weight I put on today! We went ITO to have lunch and I had Green Tea Smootie with my seafood curry bento then we went Chapel to go shopping and I had my Vanilla Cookie Shake. Then Han Shi and Kelvin went to this Flair dance thing making me David and Ing hsien had no where to go then I suggested to go Max Brenner!! YUM!! And I had my White Chocolate in this Hug mug... We share a Fondue with extra Strawberries!! I felt soooo sick today... drinking soo much milkie stuff!! and FAT... Sobzzz... oh well it was fun...

Melbourne Cup Here I Come?!?!?!

Melbourne Cup is Australia's major thoroughbred horse race. People tend to dress up real nice to attend. Today I was walking in Myer and I tend to do something "sampat"... Lol... (sorry for dragging Kelvin into it though.. ) I walked past the section where the accessories for Melbourne cup were on display. It was fun wearing it but they were so expensive that I cannot afford it. So instead of buying them, I took photos of me wearing them. HAHA...

Do you know these few cost like 450- 600 AUD EACH!!!! haha.... There were even a few that cost thousands.

Guess how much will these 3 costs?? It cost like 1700- 1900 AUD. Who will buy these wierd designs? And it will be only be worn like once a year!?!?!

Angora Rabbits!

I want a pet rabbit!! Do you know I used to have a pet rabbit which my mum gave me for a surprise birthday present! It was a normal grey rabbit which was very small.. My mum bought it without knowing it was one side blind. She saw this bunny at the pet shop alone in a cage and thought it lonely so she bought it. SO...... First I named my bunny "Carrot" but my mum says that I shouldn't name my bunny that because rabbits eat carrots, and "Carrot" loves eating carrot so i settled naming my bunny "Bah Kut Teh" which everyone laughed at the name. Poor Bah kut teh did not last for 2 weeks. It was killed by my dog Lady and my stupid maid laughed while Lady was dragging my pet bunny all around! My mum just blame me for naming it this name and saying Lady think its really bah kut teh and wanted to eat it. Oh well... May my poor wabbit RIP.

Last year I bought myself another rabbit here in Melbourne! Its a grey minilop (with long ears flopping down). I had to give it away to my cousin's friend as I can't really put it in my apartment. There are like sales inspection every single week which annoys me. Secondly, nobody's gonna take care of it when I go back to Malaysia. When I got this rabbit, my mum and sisters were like naming it after food by food! Char Siu Pao, Chee Chiong Fun, Sio Bak, Ham Chim Peng etc.... @@ But I name my bunny Taro in the end because it looks like a taro (yam). I miss Taro.... boo hoo....

Recently my sister had been putting photos of angora rabbits which I totally fell in love with and made me miss my previous bunnies! they are soooooooo adorable. <3>

Aren't they totally adorable? I will name my angora rabbit fluff if i really own one. (My sister name hers' floof though... ) The fur of an angora rabbit can be made into wool and be knitted into a sweater... Lol... how fun is that.. but i bet the rabbit will die of heat in Malaysia... Too bad =(

Food in life~

Today we had a very interesting talk about food packaging. For most people, a food product is being bought, eaten and the food packaging being thrown away. Not noticing a food packaging is being designed by a group of people for weeks to months just to attract you into buying the products!

The brown one is actually a mold of the packaging which is used to make sure if the design works in the shelves in your supermarket. Then the labels are then only being designed and printed out then the packaging is finally done! There is also a cool product that was introduced in the talk.

This is a cheese grater (Fonterra Brands) found in the supermarket! Now you can grate your cheese at home so easily. The grater can even last 2 years (that was what the person said) How cool is that haha...

Recently, foods from China are not safe to be eaten! Two of my favourite candy and 1 snack have been all recalled.

Don't they look familiar to you! I used to love these when i was young but now all these products are being recalled as they contain melamine.

According to FSANZ (http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/newsroom/factsheets/factsheets2008/melamineinfoodsfromchina/index.cfm)

"Melamine is used in the plastics industry and should not be used in food. There may be trace levels of melamine in foods due to leaching from food-grade contact materials, but these levels are not a health concern. Melamine has allegedly been used in China to make milk appear higher in protein than it really is. Chinese health officials have advised that melamine has been found recently in baby formula and in other Chinese dairy products. The contaminated milk powder may be linked to kidney problems found in Chinese infants and a number of infant deaths."

CRUEL PEOPLE!!! Now i cant have my eclairs and white rabbit for Chinese New Year =(

Counting Down the Days~

Well today's a good day to start my very own blog. Recently I've been counting down the days till I go home and 50 days till my BIRTHDAY!! You can say that I've been very "mou liu" ... As you can see, if I'm not I will not be writing this!

Anyway I got myself a new phone.. Which the phone company says I'm a LOYAL customer (which means my phone bill is very high every month.. lol) and I am eligible to get a new phone after 19 months. The phones in 3 is kinda crappy but I managed to get one which I like. *LG Secret*

It quite a stylish phone and I'm still trying to get the hang of it as my previous phone was the pink flip phone from sony ericsson... My old phone is in a very very bad condition which fell on the floor trillions of times and it bounced down the escalator at the national art gallery!! HAHA... Don't even ask how I even did that.. It just slip from my hand when i was SMS-ing... And I swear I did not do it on purpose to get a new phone! I hope this new phone last and remain in good conditions at all times!! I just wish I take good care of my stuff more which I'm very bad at...

Lastly I hope this is my very first post and not my very last... <3>
